WAA Photo Gallery!

Over the years we have taken lots of photos to remember shows and we have now collated over 12,000 photos from over 110 shows into our online Photo Gallery for everyone to see. We intend to continue to add new photos from shows as they happen.

The Photo Gallery is available from the top menu on our website. We hope you enjoy taking a trip down memory lane!

There are photos all the way back to the 90’s and, since 2007, we have been lucky enough to have Andy Jones from Shooting Pixels take professional photos of our shows for us (and he does this completely free!). We are incredibly grateful to have such a talented photographer give up his time. Thanks Andy.

If you have any photos from previous shows that aren’t listed here, please do get in touch using the Contact Us section of the website… we’d love to add more photos to help archive the past.

It is AGM time!

The WAA and Critics club are holding their Annual General Meeting on 7th September, starting promptly at 7.30pm. On the same night, Genesis will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting.

AGMs and EGMs are a good time to take stock of the previous 12 months, hear from the Chairmans of the groups, find out what money has been spent on and elect a new committee for the next 12 months.

To be able to become a committee member or vote on matters at the meeting you must be a paid-up WAA member!

December Refurbishment Update

Rob Spurway The Arts Centre December 27, 2020 Leave a reply

We are writing to update you on the progress being made with the refurbishment of the Arts Centre.

The Sub-Committee has continued to meet fortnightly with Colin, Geoff and Rob monitoring progress on a weekly basis. The project has made significant progress to date but though we planned to complete the work by the end of September, due to the ever-changing issues with the pandemic, we hope to have all major works completed by the end of January with some finishing touches carried out in February.

Currently we are undertaking the following;

  • New boiler installed
  • Utility room installed in the shower room
  • Complete rewire of hall electrics
  • Technical gallery construction completed
  • New heater units have been installed (replacing old radiators in the hall)
  • Toilet washing facilities have been upgraded (Non-touch taps and soap dispensers)

Work will shortly start on the following:

  • Deconstruct and construct a new porch
  • Install mirrors
  • Decorate interior and exterior
  • Install roller shutter doors
  • Install new stage

We are pleased to report that although we have been delayed, the Sub-committee are confident that we will be able to keep to the budget set by the Management Committee. We would like to thank our contractors who have been working throughout in difficult circumstances.

Stay safe and we wish you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and hopefully we can be together at the Arts Centre soon.

Yours Sincerely

Arts Centre Refurbishment Sub Committee

On behalf of the Wellington Arts Association Management Committee
